Ncuti Gatwa announced as spokesperson for UK at Eurovision 2025
In the last hour, the BBC and the official Doctor Who social channels announced that the Doctor himself, Rwandan-Scottish actor Ncuti Gatwa, will announce the UK jury’s 12 points in the final of Eurovision 17 May.

Gatwa is the third actor in a row to have been given this honour, following on from Joanna Lumley and Catherine Tate in the last two contests. He’ll also be following in the footsteps of many familiar faces from British light entertainment such as AJ Odudu, Amanda Holden, Richard Osman and even TV chef Nigella Lawson, who read out the UK’s scores in 2015.
One other Eurovision personality he’ll be following is the current record-holder for the most spokesperson duties: Colin Berry, the British DJ and presenter who announced his country’s scores 24 times between 1977 and 2002. He sadly died two weeks ago at the age of 79.
While most fans will know Gatwa for his performance as the Fifteenth Doctor, he shot to fame in 2019 as outrageous gay best friend Eric Effiong in the Netflix comedy series Sex Education, and has also had an abundant theatre career. His most recent project saw him star in the National Theatre’s production of The Importance of Being Earnest between November 2024 and January 2025.
The UK will be hoping the presence of the Time Lord could regenerate the hope for Remember Monday to deliver a good result. They’ll be performing What The Hell Just Happened? in the second semi-final, and then in the grand final, on 15th and 17th May respectively.
