Sophie Ellis-Bextor to replace Ncuti Gatwa as the UK Spokesperson

Shortly after last night’s Semi Final, there has been a change of spokespersons in the United Kingdom. The star of “Doctor Who” and “Sex Education”, Ncuti Gatwa is no longer going to announce who the UK jury give their 12 points to, instead we are getting to see multi-award winning artist, the music star behind “Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)” and “Murder On The Dancefloor” – Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Ncuti Gatwa was previously an outspoken supporter of Palestine, however there are no indications that this is the reason behind replacing him as the UK spokesperson. The BBC made the following statement:

Due to unforeseen circumstances, unfortunately Ncuti Gatwa is no longer able to participate as spokesperson during the grand final this weekend. We are delighted to confirm that BBC Radio 2’s very own Friday night Kitchen Disco Diva Sophie Ellis-Bextor will be presenting the Jury result live from the UK.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor is already very excited about being part of this year’s Eurovision Final, and she stated the following:

I love Eurovision and it’s a privilege to be part of 2025’s Grand Final. What an honour it is to announce the UK’s jury score on such a special show which always puts music front and centre. I am very much looking forward to delivering the iconic douze points from the United Kingdom!

The Grand Final of Eurovision 2025 takes place tomorrow, starting at 21:00 CET.
