The first semi final of Festival da Cancao will take place on the 19th of February, where eight acts are going to compete for their place in the Grand Final. As we all know by now, the Portuguese broadcaster RTP invited composers to send in their bids for this festival, and to find acts who will be singing their songs.
Now, RTP has revealed the names of the participants of the first semi final. They are as follows (in brackets are the names of the composers of their songs):
- Márcia (Márcia)
- Golden Slumbers (Samuel Úria)
- Fernando Daniel (Nuno Feist)
- Deolinda Kinzimba ( Rita Redshoes)
- Rui Drumond (Héber Marques)
- Lisa Garden (Pedro Saraiva)
- Salvador Sobral (Luísa Sobral)
- Trio (Nuno Gonçalves)
Rui Drumond has already represented Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2005 as a member of 2B with the song “Amar”. This song failed to bring Portugal to the final. Nevertheless, Rui has made a huge career in his country, by winning the second season of The Voice in Portugal.
The acts which will compete in the second semi final are yet to be announced.
