Jasmine Kara ”The best tool and universal language to connect souls and spread peace and love”

Jasmine Kara, who has quite the history in the Swedish music industry already, will be making her debut in Melodifestivalen during Deltävling 3.
Read the very honest and personal interview we’ve had with her below:

Congratulations on being selected for Melodifestivalen, Jasmine! What was your first reaction when you heard it?

Thanks so much =) I was very happy and surprised also since it was decided by SVT in the last minute really. So excited!

Could you tell us a bit about yourself?

I started doing music on my eleventh birthday. Already then I knew I loved performing and doing music, it was such an amazing feeling. But it wasn’t until a couple of years after, I realized that music was more than something fun to do. I had gone through a destructive teenage relationship that ended up in a mental clinic after suicide attempt and months of abuse. But one day, a social worker in my departement  came in to my room with a guitar in his hand and asked me if I knew how to play. That day did not only change my life completely, but also my whole perspective of what music was.

It sounds cliche, but it really saved my life. And since that day I have never stopped doing music, and  have given my life to it.

The goal is to be able to keep doing music forever, and spread the joy I receive of it – to many many more lives. To make a change to a better world through music – the best tool and universal language to connect souls and spread peace and love.

What is your song about?

The song is about love and how we need each other as human beings in order to survive. After all the craziness in this world recently, I wanted to write a song that was uplifting, and warm and that anyone could relate to, no matter if it’s about a personal relationship, about a passion ( like music in my case), or anything that is not always easy, but you crave it. And you know that when it’s good , it’s sooo good. and that’s why you always should embrace it.

What made you decide to participate in Melodifestivalen?

I think melodifestivalen is a very very cool thing. Just like sports and music itself,  it has a huge impact on people and it makes people come together. It’s such a warm show and good for all ages and countries. I’m very excited to be a part of this.
