Almost 1200 submissions for Melodi Grand Prix 2018!

That’s a new record for Norwegian broadcaster NRK! Almost 1200 songs have been sent in for Melodi Grand Prix 2018 That’s the third consecutive year the submission record is broken and it’s by +/- 200 songs compared to 2016 and 2017.

The new Melodi Grand Prix project leader, Stig Karlsen who took over after Jan Fredrik Karlsen stepped down earlier this year, has been working hard to get in songs from many different talented people the past few months. He has been meeting with artists, songwriters and people from the music industry in general.

Stig is happy with the result and says:

There are many talented people that have shown engagement towards next year’s MGP. It’s gonna hurt to pick just ten songs and artists who will be competing to represent Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon.

Next year’s Melodi Grand Prix final will be taking place in the Oslo Spektrum venue in March.
