Iriao will go to Lisbon for Georgia!

Earlier there were rumours about Georgia choosing its 2018 representative through a national final, but today, on the last day of 2017, broadcaster GPB revealed they are sending the band Iriao to Portugal next year!

They are being described as performing ”unique music that is a blend of jazz and Georgian ethnomusic”.

The musical director and founder of the group is David Malazonia. He has been working in the music business for over 30 years, of which 15 years in Germany (next to Georgia). He has been producing for TV shows and musicals as well as for several music groups and solo singers. David is highly praised in Georgia and considered to be one of the first composers to combine the musical styles of jazz and Georgian ethnomusic.
