The Swiss Entscheidungsshow is taking place this weekend, where a total of six acts are going to compete to represent Switzerland in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. One of them is Alejandro Reyes, who is competing with two songs this year, one of which he performs as well. We’ve had the pleasure to talk to him about his entry “Compass” and his preparations for the show, and you can read all about it in this interview:

Hi Alejandro! Thank you for taking your time out for talking to us! First of all, how did you feel when you found out that you were one of the finalists this year?

Well, I’m part of the Swiss final, and we are 6 people.. I’m kinda lucky because I have two songs of mine in the final ! I wrote “Kiss Me” for Naeman, and my song “Compass”, and this is already a victory for me! I’m very happy to be part of this and honored to have been chosen for the show.

Can you tell a little bit about the song and also what it means to you?

The song is actually a real story. We all have that compass or that “something” leading us or guiding us in our lives. I really wanted everybody to feel concerned with the topic. It can be love, friendship, passion etc.

How did you decide to enter the Swiss final as a singer, and with this particular song?

I actually just wrote the songs and wasn’t really looking to participate. However, they loved my vocals and my character, so the Swiss TV offered me to take part in it not only as the writer but also as a performer. I said yes 🙂

Do you have a vision on how you want the performance to look like on the stage?

Simple. Authentic and real. I think real stuff never lies and, it’s all about music..

Do you have any favourite among the other contestants?

I really love Chiara’s song. She’s beautiful and charismatic, I think she’s dangerous haha!

How would you feel if you went on to represent Switzerland at the Eurovision?

Honored. It would be a big responsibility and great feeling too. I think and hope that the Swiss would be happy to make me go and be the one to represent Switzerland at Eurovision.

What is your favourite Eurovision entry through the history?

I really loved Tom Dice for Belgium in 2010.

What is your favourite swiss entry?

Timbelle’s entry from last year – “Apollo”.

Which artists have inspired you to become an artist yourself?

Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Tylor Hilton.
