Labas vakaras! Welcome back to the National Final season everyone, and we start with Lithuania and Heat 1 of their Eurovision selection process “Pabandom iš naujo!” (“Let’s Try Again”, or “We Go Again”).
Last year, Lithuania gave us one of the most magnificent National Finals selections around, and the winner was The Roop with “On Fire”. Due to the cancellation, The Roop have been given another opportunity to represent Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam, and will be appearing in the Final of “Pabandom iš naujo!” on February 6th with their song “Discotheque”.
Tonight sees the first 10 of the 21 entries competing for 5 places in the semi-final which will take place on the 30th January, before the Grand Final the week after.
The jury have already cast their votes in this pre recorded show, which will count for 50% of tonight’s result. During the broadcast, the public will have an opportunity to vote for their favourites to determine the 6 to qualify. Unlike previous years, we will not be aware of the jury votes, nor get regular updates on how the public are voting, until the end of the show. Tonight’s jury are of Ramūnas Zilnys, Jievaras Jasinskis, Vytautas Bikus, Ieva Narkutė and Aistė Smilgevičiūtė.
