TIX won the Årets Spellemann!

TIX has been nominated for Spellemannprisen in the category song of the year with two songs Karantene and Kaller på deg. He lost the award to Frida Ånnevik & Chris Holsten with Hvis verden. Even though he hasn’t won the Spellemann award in that category TIX has been revealed as the winner of Spellemann of the year (Årets spellemann)

Spellemannprisen is a Norwegian music award established by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) and for the first time it was awarded back in 1973. The prize honours musicians for their achievements in the previous year and it is often referred to as the Norwegian Grammy Awards.

Some of the previous winners of Spellemannprisen who also represented Norway at Eurovision include Anita Skorgan for Best Pop Album “Ingen vei tilbake” in 1979; Jahn Teigen for Best Male Vocal in 1978 and twice for Jury Honorary Award in 1983 & 2009. Bobbysocks for Jury Honorary Award in 1985. Margaret Berger with “Lifetime Guarantee” for Best Musical Video in 2004. Alexander Rybak won the Spellemann of the year (Årets spellemann) for 2009 a special prize based on the commercial success of the artist and his music. The winner of this prize receives a bronze statue designed as a gramophone which is in his possession for a year and the winners of the biggest prize include a-ha; Röyksopp; Kygo; Marcus & Martinus, Alan Walker and last year it went to Sigrid. In addition to this last year KEiiNO has received their first nomination for Spellemannprisen in the category of the best song for their Eurovision entry “Spritit In The Sky”.

But those aren’t the only news regarding TIX and awards as the moment of his victory at Melodi Grand Prix has given the MGP nomination for Gullruten 2021 in the category “Moment of the year”. Gullruten is Norway’s award for the TV industry, equivalent to Emmy Awards.

The list of nominees in the category include:

  • 113 –  a Norwegian documentary series from the ambulance service and emergency medical communication center at the University Hospital of Northern Norway (UNN) whose second season aired last year on NRK;
  • Norge bak fasaden (Norway behind the facade) – an investigative documentary series that explores the Norwegian reality aired on TV 2;
  • Estonia – funnet som endrer alt – documentary which covers the story from 1994 when an Estonian cruise ferry sank in the baltic sea, and reveals what might have happened on that night aired on Discovery Network Norway

TIX will be performing “Fallen Angel” as 9th entry of the first semi-final scheduled for 18th of May. You can watch the story behind TIX HERE and listen to the song below
