Norwegian representative at Eurovision Song Contest 2021, TIX has released the official music video to his entry, “Fallen Angel”. The video is directed and produced by Brusjan AS.
TIX is the stage name of Andreas Haukeland (28) from Bærum. Growing up Andreas has been diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome and the uncontrollable tics earned him the nickname “TIX” in middle school, which Andreas embraced and made it his stage name. In 2015, he had his first major breakthrough with the song “Sheikh” created for the graduate students which became the annual party song for them. Later on he distinguished himself as a songwriter at home and abroad with the world hit “Sweet but Psycho” with Ava Max, which became the most played song of the year. Since then, TIX has had seven songs as number 1 on Spotify in Norway, and along the way he had fans of different ages from children to elders. Last year TIX released two songs about mental health and loneliness, “Jeg Vil Ikke Leve” and “Tusen Tårer”, through them Andreas sang about his childhood struggles. His Eurovision entry is the first song which he performed in English and like his previous work “Fallen Angel” is about loneliness and exclusion. Recently TIX received the Spellemann of the year award (Årets spellemann) and in addition to that two of his songs Karantene and Kaller på deg. were nominated in the category song of the year. Previously TIX has been a participant in Paradise Hotel, that’s how the previously mentioned song Kaller på deg came to life and he was also a judge in Idol.
To grow up with something that makes you feel a little bit different than everybody else, can be challenging. When we were planning the video for «Fallen Angel», this was the story I wanted to present, based on experiences from my own childhood, to inspire kids and youths that relates to that situation and those feelings. I grew up with Tourette Syndrome and was named “Tics” due to my involuntarily sounds and twitches in my face. I decided to embrace the name, and the character TIX was born. In Norway, a big part of the population knows me as the one I’ve grown to be, and I believe it is important to tell my background story, and show them that there is always light in the end of the tunnel. Even an ugly duckling can become a swan.”
