Ben Mawson on The UK: We want to see this as a development for a career
Ben Mawson has spoken about his plans for the UK at next year’s Eurovision, saying that his plan is to use Eurovision as a platform to develop a career.
Speaking to BBC Radio 1 reporter Steve Holden, Ben, co-founder of Tap Music said:
“We don’t want to see Eurovision as a boom or bust night for the artist. We want to see this as a platform for development for a career.”
Ben’s comments suggest that perhaps a new artist could be chosen to represent the UK next year, but continues:
“We don’t know yet if they’ll be a new artist but if they are, we want to make sure this is going to be a really positive experience, and that it’s the start of a career.”
When asked how Ben will choose an act and song, Ben continued:
“A good song is a good song. One of the important things with Eurovision is that they’re strong live.. we’re very focused on that. We’re gonna try and find the best possible song and the best possible vehicle.”
As we reported on Thursday, Ben has a number of well known acts under his company Tap Music, including Dua Lipa and Lana Del Ray.
