David Amaro: “The Song is my Ode to Love – it’s about my relationship with love”

David Amaro is a 28 year old singer-songwriter from Slovenia, who started making music from a very early age. He competed in the music contest “Prvi glasek Gorenjske” at the age of 12, where he finished in third place. In the same year, he also made it to the second place in the TV show “Veseli mikrofon”.

At the age of 13, David released the song “Ta ljubezen“, which later became a huge hit in Slovenia and is still a very well known song today. After that, he participated at many TV shows and festivals and released several songs.

In 2019 he participated at the Slovenian version of “Your Face Sounds Familiar”, where he embodied stars like Jim Carrey, Prince or Ceca.
Furthermore, David was one of the first celebrities in Slovenia, to publicly announce that they are LGBT. During his participaion at “Your Face Sounds Familiar”, he talked about his experience of being gay in Slovenia and explained that he moved to Manchester at 19 because he felt more accepted there!

This year, David Amaro is participating at EMA 2022, hoping to represent Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin! He will perform the song “Še vedno si lepa” at the first semi-final on February 5th.
