Malcolm Pisani: “Music is one way of conveying our message to the world”

After using the X Factor Malta for the past few years as their Eurovision selection method, in 2022 Malta is going back to their longstanding national final show Malta Eurovision Song Contest or MESC for short. With that comes 22 hopefuls who will all be competing for the ticket to Turin! Over the next two weeks join us for our series of interviews with the artists in the lead up to the show.

Next up its Malcolm Pisani, who is taking part with his song “We Came For Love”!

David: Welcome to MESC! What made you choose to submit a song and compete in Malta’s selection show this year?

Malcolm: My Italian music producer asked me whether I would be interested to give a shot and submit a song for The MESC, and, it was an easy yes from my side after which we’ve immediately started working on it!

David: This year you’ll be performing “We Came For Love” at the contest. Tell us more about the song, working with the team behind it and why you chose this to be your entry?

Malcolm: Music is one way of conveying our message to the world and this is exactly the main idea behind this song. With the pandemic situation around the world, many are those feeling either alone and forgotten or feeling a certain selfishness and disrespect towards one another. The lyrics have been specifically chosen to reflect the pain that we all tend to feel sometimes, but at the same time, it is a motivational song where I am empowering courage and strength to never stop believing and that we came for love!

David: Tell us more about your background as a musician and performer. Who are your biggest influences and what inspired you to release music?

Malcolm: This year I am celebrating 15 years in the music scene – it has definitely been a wonderful journey filled with lots of local & foreign performances & lots of emotions that I truly cherish for life. I am not only a solo artist but I have my own band too – ‘Malcolm & Band’, Vocal Teacher of my own school ‘Malcolm’s House of Voice’ & last but not least TV producer & host. The artists who truly inspire me are definitely Lady Gaga, Robbie Williams & Beyonce but when it comes to my music the inspiration comes from everyday life stories & phases.

David: Can you give us any teasers about what to expect from your upcoming performance on stage?

Malcolm: Intimate & Empowerment!

David: Eurovision is huge in Malta! What would it mean to you personally to represent your nation at the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin?

Malcolm: Definitely an HONOR

David: We like to throw a random question in the mix… if you could collaborate with any other artist or band ever, who would it be and why?

Malcolm: Lady Gaga – she is just incredible & so iconic !

David: Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions. Best of luck in the contest! Did you have any message for your fans?

Malcolm: I would like to take the opportunity to thank all my fans and followers for all the support they’ve always shown throughout my music journey and I‘ll promise them my very best for The MESC & with more good music in the upcoming months – Love, #MP.
