Audition dates for Junior Songfestival 2022 have been revealed!

Last October, The Netherlands was the first country which confirmed their participation at Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022, even before the last years edition of the contest took place. The applications were open from October until 14th of February and all interested candidates from the age of 9 to 14 could apply to take part at Junior Songfestival 2022 and compete for a chance to become the next Dutch representative at Junior Eurovision. Today, Zapp has confirmed the dates of the audition rounds for the Dutch selection, Junior Songfestival 2022.

The dates of the audition rounds are as follows:

  • 13th of March
  • 26th of March (date is subject to change)
  • 27th of March (date is subject to change)

Since the submissions closed jury was reviewing the received submissions and during the audition round they will decide which of the hopefuls will advance to the televised national selection.

The Netherlands is the only country which has been participating at Junior Eurovision Song Contest since it’s beginning in 2003 and never missed a single year of participation and this year they will mark 20th consecutive participation at Junior Eurovision Song Contest. They have won the contest once back in 2009 with Ralf Mackenbach who sang “Click Clack” and they hosted the show twice, in Rotterdam 2007 and Amsterdam 2012.

At last years edition of the show The Netherlands was represented by Ayana who sang “Mata Sugu Aō Ne”. With a total of 43 points it was the first time that they ended as 19th and in this case on the last place of the show Ayana was just 1 point behind Ireland who was represented by Maiú Levi Lawlor with “Saor (Disappear)”.
