Aidan has been disqualified from Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2023!

The Maltese national broadcaster has just announced that one of the biggest fan favorites from this year’s Malta Eurovision Song Contest – Aidan, has been disqualified from the competition!

Aidan was set to compete with his song “Regina”, which he premiered in the first quarter-final, on the 13th of January. Now PBS’s production team of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest informed the public that Aidan has been disqualified from the further competition due to a breach of the regulations 5.3 and 5.6 of the Contest. These regulations state that none of the artists, their officials, marketing agencies, managers, or any further team members are allowed to promote the artist(s), their song, participation in the Contest, nor to try and influence the public vote in any way.

Aidan was disqualified due to multiple posts on his social media, where he was promoting his song and his participation in Malta Eurovision Song Contest, without prior authorization and approval from PBS.

This leaves 39 acts in the competition to represent Malta in Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool. The third quarter-final where 14 acts are going to present their entries is going to be broadcast this Friday, after which the voting for all 39 songs in going to start.
