Submissions for Benidorm Fest 2024 to open on Tuesday, May 16th!

The Grand Final of the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest has not taken place yet, but Spain is already starting to prepare for the 2024 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, as they have just published the participation rules for next year’s Benidorm Fest! The song submission will start already next Tuesday, May 16th.

The submission period will open on the 16th of May at 10am CET, and will remain open until the 10th of October. All interested artists and musicians will have slightly less than 5 months to write and finalize their entries and send them in to RTVE. The broadcaster will also directly invite well established songwriters and artists to present their songs for next year’s Benidorm Fest. If there are songwriters who wish to send in their song but haven’t got an artist in mind – they can submit their song regardless, and in case the song is chosen, RTVE will help find the best suitable artist for that song for the competition.

All of the usual Eurovision rules apply in Benidorm Fest as well, so even if you submit the song prior to the 1st of September, you cannot publish it until this date, as that will be in breach of the Eurovision rules, and that will automatically disqualify the act from Benidorm Fest as well.

Once the submission window ends, RTVE will appoint a jury that will listen through all of the submitted entries, and the jury is going to pick no more than 16 acts. The selected acts will once again be split between two semi finals, and the Grand Final winner will get to represent Spain in the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest.

Blanca Paloma is representing Spain in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest also sent a message directly from Liverpool, saying that if your dream is to represent Spain in Eurovision, you should apply for Benidorm Fest, as your dream can come true just like hers did this year. She is set to perform her song “EaEa” in this year’s Final on Saturday. Give a listen to her entry right here:
