Shortlist of the artists competing at Chefsache ESC 2025 has been made
The decision about the representative of Germany at Eurovision 2025 in Basel will be made through a special preselection show Chefsache ESC 2025 „Wer singt für Deutschland?” (Who sings for Germany). Stefan Raab is the one behind the show together with RTL and ARD while Barbara Schöneberger will be the hosts of all shows.
In November last year the submission window closed and ARD has received a total of 3281 applications. Majority of applicants are solo artists and 1198 out of all applied with an original song. The stage of the preselection which we are now at is to have shortlisted candidates informed about their status. As ESC Kompakt reports artists which were not selected already received the information about the rejection of their application. It has not been confirmed yet when the selected artists will be revealed to the public. Total of 24 acts will compete in the selection and the artists will be split in two heats. They will be showcasing some singing skills and perform in singing rounds and song disciplines as it has been announced. Best seven will be qualifying from each heat to a semi-final which is set for 22nd of February out of those acts the 9 finalists will be selected who will be competing on 1st of March for a chance to wave the German flag in Basel. The decision about the winner in the final will be made solely through the public voting.
The show will be taking place on the following dates
- Heat 1 – 14th of February
- Heat 2 – 15th of February
- Semi-Final – 22nd of February
- Final – 1st of March
Tickets are already on sale HERE. Last year in Malmö, Germany managed to break the curse of being placed among the last acts competing in the final of Eurovision Song Contest as ISAAK managed to receive a total of 117 points which was enough for 12th place. You can check out the performance below
