Iveta Mukuchyan wishes you a Merry Christmas!

On this Christmas Day, Iveta Mukuchyan has a very special message for You! Check it out here:

As Iveta mentioned in her message, we have an exclusive interview with her! She tells us a little bit more about her Eurovision song, about her experience in The Voice of Germany, and we also found out a little bit more about her personally. You can also check out some exclusive photos of Iveta Mukuchyan as well – all on this page!

Iveta, can you tell us a little bit about your selection to represent Armenia in Eurovision 2016 – how did the whole proposal happen, and what was your first thought when you received this proposal?

I was very excited when I got the offer from the Public TV Company of Armenia. You know, I had so many emotions at the same time: I was happy, excited and of course honored to be chosen to represent my country in Eurovision. Every day, I’m getting so many massages and positive feedbacks from my fans, so much love and support. I’m grateful to be a part of the Eurovision family.

How was your whole experience in taking part in “The Voice of Germany”?

“The Voice of Germany” was such a great experience for me. It was truly wonderful to have a chance to work together with Germany’s music industry professionals, I’ve learnt a lot from them. “The Voice” was also a great platform for me to explore and develop my vocal skills, as well as master in performing live in front of a big audience.

We know that many songs have been submitted to the Armenian broadcaster for you to sing in Stockholm. What is the next step? What kind of a song would you like to sing in Stockholm?

From the very first moment I wanted my song to be a mid-tempo to up-tempo song, with an unforgettable melody and a strong hook, filled with true and honest emotions. During the past 3 months we received hundreds of songs from all over the world: Greece, Russia, Sweden, Germany, USA, Armenia and many other countries, so I really want to use this opportunity and thank all the composers for such a great job. We have chosen our favorites, and currently we’re working on the final version of the song.

Armenia’s best result came when the song was in both English and Armenian (Qele Qele). Would you consider singing at least a part of your song in Armenian?

I believe that the most important thing is the message of the lyrics – the true emotions that came from the writer’s heart. If I’m able to pass those emotions to the audience, it’s not really important whether the lyrics would be in English or Armenian, although I do think it might be an interesting mix.

What does it mean to you personally to represent Armenia in Eurovision?

It is a great honour. First of all to be chosen to represent my country on Europe’s biggest stage. Second, because I’ve always loved Eurovision, and I’m really happy to be a part of its family. In the past few months I’ve been getting so much love from the Eurovision fans all over the world, so I want to thank everyone for the huge support you’re giving me. I love you all!

When can we expect to hear your Eurovision song?

I really want this to be a big surprise for everyone. I can only say that the upcoming month is going to be very busy for me, so expect some news soon! 🙂

Which ones would your personal favorite Eurovision entries be?

Oh there are so many! I love Aram Mp3’s “Not Alone”, Loic Nottet’s song was great, he represented Belgium in Austria this year, and ABBA’s “Waterloo” – that’s a classic!

Our readers would like to get to know you a little bit better, and find out the things you like the most. What would be your favourite book, one you would recommend?

“The stranger in the mirror” by Sidney Sheldon. I love the plot, it’s very emotional.

Your favorite movie?

“The Basketball Diaries”. It has a very powerful storyline, and I think it’s one of Leonardo DiCaprio’s greatest roles.

Favorite dish?

Armenian Harissa. Try it – you’ll love it.

Sport?

Figure skating.

Did you ever try and figure skate?

I did when I was younger, but it never really worked out. 🙂

Your favourite singer or band?

Tina Turner, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Imagine Dragons. I love different styles, so I always can’t decide which one is my top favourite.

And what is your favourite song of all time?

Etta James “At last”.

Thank you so very much Iveta for your time! We will be looking forward to hearing your Eurovision song soon!

We can also share with you some exclusive photos of Iveta Mukuchyan! Take a sneak peak of something Iveta’s been working on in the last few days 🙂 Click on the images to see them in full size.
