We watched a thrilling first Supernova Heat live from the LTV studios in Riga tonight, where 11 artists performed their songs in front of a live studio audience, and thousands of Eurovision fans world wide.
From those 11 just 4 qualified for the semi-final which is to be held on February 19th
On the whole, the quality of songs (and performances) was solid, and the advert breaks had the welcome return of the Riga Beaver teaching us dance moves, and portrait making with duct tape (yes really!)
The four qualifiers, who were given enthusiastic hugs by the Beaver were :
- Lauris Valters – Magic Years
- Linda Leen – Who Is In Charge?
- Franco Franco – Up
- Miks Dukurs – Spiritual Priest
As announced earlier in our live blog, the full results will not be made available until after the finals, so we can say that the other 7 acts all came equal 5th! Also,the above list is in order of announcement, we have no way of knowing what position they came in.

Although the final results will not be announced until the big final, the presenters will announce the winner of each evening, who got the most public votes and Spotify streams and in the first semi-final the public’s favourite was Lauris Valters.
