Eurovision America: Press Conference to be held tomorrow

Swedish Newspaper Aftonbladet has reported that Melodifestivalen’s Christer Björkman will be launching the Eurovision song contest in the USA, with a Press Conference launch tomorrow.

The article says that the name will be ‘American song contest’, with the competition expecting to take place in 2021.

Lili Assefa, who is incharge of PR for the new contest said:

I have no comments but refer to the press conference tomorrow

It’s not the first time that the Eurovision have announced they were creating another version of the contest. In 2006 it was also announced that a Eurovision Song Contest would be launched in America, aswell as in 2016 when details were announced of a Eurovision Song Contest in Asia.

In 2016 comedian Stephen Colbert spoke about what it would be like if America took part in the competition, aswell as creating his own mock song which you can see below:
