Eurovision 2022 Tickets On Sale ‘Soon’, Venue to have 65 percent audience

Fans hoping to catch any of the nine live shows from the PalaAlpitour (PalaOlimpico) have got some excellent and encouraging news from Turin today. Torino Oggi is reporting that the arena is currently set to have a capacity of 65% (approximately 8,500 people, based on a space for 13,000 seats). Of course, the goal is to have the Pala 100% full, however this 65% is a worst-case scenario, if current pandemic restrictions remain unchanged.

More good news is that the ticket announcement is just days away! While there is no official ticket release date yet, sources to Torino Oggi give a timeframe around the end of February or a few days later.

In an interview with Italian media at ANSA, Guido Rossi at RAI’s Production Center in Turin had this to say:

Eurovision is not just the Grand Final, it is much more, it will fill Turin with many events and activities in two weeks and I am convinced that the element that led Turin to win [the host city bid] is also linked to the city’s ability to make itself available. […] It will be two weeks that will make its importance felt in the city and we hope that in May there will be full capacity in the halls. The City of Torino and RAI want to make this experience possible for as many people as possible.

Rossi also commented about a giant screen that will be set up in the Eurovillage. This is great news, as initially there were reports that one would not be built, leaving fans partying in the Eurovillage unable to watch the shows live.

First Day for Volunteers

Meanwhile, today saw the first 300 prospective volunteers showed up for their briefing in Turin. Keep in mind that over 12,000 people have applied for the 1,000 volunteering opportunities provided by Eurovision. People from across Europe showed up today, including native speakers of Russian, Estonian, Greek, and Latvian! Volunteers will not be compensated for their stay or travel to Turin, however foreigners chosen will be given vouchers for some meals and transit around the city to various venues related to the Contest.
