Germany: 5 more workshop artists announced

As we reported yesterday, NDR announced that 20 artists have made it to their National Selection workshop. 6 were announced yesterday, and we can now reveal another 5. They are:

Gregor Hägele,

Diana Schneider,

Aly Ryan,

Thilo Berndt,

and German group Barna.

On the eurovision.de website today it says that:

Among the participants are also artists who initially did not want to be named and who made their decision to participate dependent on their experience at the workshop

so it appears that this may be the last of the artists announced.

Who are the artists?

Gregor Hägele

Gregor Hägele is another singer taking part in the workshop who competed in The Voice of Germany last year. In his audition all of the judges apart from 1 turned their chair, and Hägele reached the semi-final.

Diana Schneider

Diana Schneider is a singer who applied for the previous National Selection as part of the duo ZweiLand but unfortunately didn’t make it to the Top 6. Schneider is now going solo, and she appeared at Cologne Pride this year.

Aly Ryan

Aly Ryan has already released a few singles, including “No Parachute” “Borrow Time” “The Lucky Ones” and “Lonely party”. Her Youtube channel features a Good Luck video from American blogger Perez Hilton.

Thilo Berndt

Thilo Berndt is an Actor and Singer who’s sung since an early age. His videos on Youtube go back to 7 years ago.

Berndt has took part in a range of competitions such as Austria’s ‘Kiddy Contest’

…and German group Barna.

The first group participating in the workshop is Barna. The band is made up of 3 members Sam, Julian and Tobi. They’ve recently published an EP with current single “Amber Rose”

We also yesterday announced 6 other artists taking part in the workshop, including:

BB Thomaz,
Sebastian Schub,
Nicole Cross,
Dimi Rompos,
Nina Kutschera
and Daniel Schumacher.

During the next couple of days, the candidates will record short performance clips to show their character and style.

The videos will be shown to the fan jury and the international experts. These groups will then decide who will compete in the National Final. Earlier this year, NDR entertainment director Thomas Schreiber revealed there may be up to ten acts in the National Final.

The National Final will be hosted by Barbara Schöneberger who presented the National Final in 2017. German Head of Delegation Christoph Pellander has said that the event would take place sometime in the last two weeks of February, although an exact date has yet to be decided.
