Rachel McAdams and Will Ferrell to play Icelanders in Eurovision Movie

More news has been announced on the upcoming Eurovision Movie starring Will Ferrell, with a number of outlets reporting that the film will be mostly based in Iceland.

Broadcaster RÚV has reported that Will Ferrell will be starring alongside Rachel McAdams who will play Icelanders in the film.

The broadcaster has reported that the film will be produced by the steaming service Netflix, with involvement from Icelandic production company True North.

Aswell as RÚV, other outlets have reported on the news including Online Newspaper Visir.is who have reported that a number of well known Icelandic Actors are to star in the film, including:

Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald)

Björn Hlynur Haraldsson (Fortitude)

Nína Dögg Filippusdóttir

and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (Game of Thrones). 

The Newspaper has reported that some shooting will take place in Húsavík in Iceland which has led to reports that 2003 participant Birgitta Haukdal could also be in the film.

Aswell as Húsavík it’s been reported that some scenes will be filmed at Pinewood Studios in London.

Iceland have taken part in the Eurovision Song Contest 32 times, with their debut in 1986. The country have came 2nd twice, most recently in 2009, but have yet to win the contest so far.
