Bugo & Morgan disqualified from Sanremo, in the middle of the show!

The fourth night of Sanremo took place last night, where the 24 finalists presented their songs once again to the public and to the juries. Everything was going according to the plan all the way up to song 20, when Bugo & Morgan got disqualified from the competition.

Bugo & Morgan were competing in this year’s Sanremo with the song “Sincero”. The song starts with Morgan, who for tonight decided to change the lyrics of the song in order to attack his duet partner. He was reading the newly written lyrics off of a tablet that he had placed on his keyboard. In the new lyrics he called out Bugo on his “ingrattitude. arrogance, and his bad intention”, and invited him to “respect the stage and the person who brought him there”. This culminated in Bugo leaving the stage shortly after the song started, the orchestra stopping to play, and the host of the show – Amadeus, coming back on stage to see what was going on.

As always, “show must go on”, and Rita Pavone was called to the stage as the 21st act, and the host (also the Artistic Director of the festival) announced that Bugo & Morgan have thus been disqualified as they had broken the rules of the competition. He added that he is very sorry that this had to happen as he liked “Sincero” and thought the song deserved to be there.
