Eden Alene’s entry to Rotterdam confirmed as “Set Me Free!”

Tonight Eden Alene confirmed Israel’s entry for the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest! Chosen by a 100% televote  (well, via the KAN app) through the show HaShir Shelanu L’Eurovizion, Set Me Free was written by Noam Zlatin, Ron Karmi, Ido and Amit.

In a selection show hosted by 2019 co-host Lucy Ayoub and featuring surprise appearances from 2019 winner Duncan Lawrence and 2021 Executive Producer Sietse Bakker, the show’s main focus was on Eden’s songwriters who were from all walks of life – some had competed as performers in K’Dam before, some were new to songwriting, some were ‘influencers’ and some were long-time songwriting heavyweights. The songwriters were completely unknown to the public before HaShir Shelanu L’Eurovizion.

The show touched on the impact of the events of last year on Eden and how they influenced her performance direction. Eden famously found out about the cancellation of the 2020 contest whilst being interviewed live on a talk show.

When we polled ESCBubble visitors on which entry they’d like to see in Rotterdam, most had predicted it would be “La La Love.”

Israel will be performing in the second half of the First Semi Final, scheduled to be held 18th May 2021.
