Each year, songfestival.be hosts ESC250, a worldwide vote for fans’ favourite Eurovision songs of all-time. In the festive spirit, 14 members of our team here at ESCBubble compiled our ESC250 votes to make a team vote!
The 14 team members had a combined 812 points to hand out and chose 99 different songs from 38 of Eurovision’s 52 countries! The team’s taste is so varied, that the winning song only received 36 points from just 5 people!
Here are some quick stats on our ESC250 choices:
- Countries with most points: Sweden with 99 points (12.2% of the total), Italy with 45 points (5.5%), and Netherlands and Norway with 43 points each (5.3%).
- Country with most songs: Sweden with 7 songs (“Waterloo”, “Hero”, “Popular”, “Euphoria”, “Move”, “Hold Me Closer”, “Tattoo”), Bulgaria, Greece, and Spain with 5 songs each.
- The 14 countries that got nul points were: Andorra, Australia, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Lithuania, Monaco, Morocco, North Macedonia, Poland, San Marino, Serbia & Montenegro, Russia, Slovakia, and Yugoslavia.
Gone but not forgotten:
An interesting trend that emerged in the team voting this year was the large number of songs chosen from countries that no longer participate in the Contest:
- Bulgaria accounted for 38 points, Hungary got 13 points, 21 points went to Romania, and Turkey picked up an impressive 31 points, given their last participation was in 2012!
- These countries combined for 103 points, or 12.6% of the total vote — a number similar to the combined vote of the active Big 5 countries who got 125 points, or 15.3%.
