‘Għażliet’ to replace ‘Magnolia’ in MESC 2025

As we reported yesterday, the first announced entry to compete in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest – “Magnolia” by Alexandra Alden has been disqualified from the Contest, as the song was performed prior to the 30th of November, thus breaking the rules of the competition. The Maltese national broadcaster have now confirmed that they will still proceed with 24 entries for the 2025 Contest, and named the replacement entry. Dario Bezzina feat. Żeppi L-Muni will replace Alexandra Alden with the song “Għażliet”.

This will not be Dario’s first entry in MESC, as he made his debut in this competition back in 2006. His latest attempt came in 2023, when his entry “Bridle Road” made it to the Semi Finals. This year he teamed up with Żeppi L-Muni, and they will now be performing their song “Għażliet” in one of the two Semi Finals of Malta Eurovision Song Contest in early February.

Malta will select their entry for Eurovision 2025 on the 8th of February. Earlier this year in Malmö, Sarah Bonnici represented the Mediterranean island nation with “Loop”, and failed to reach the Grand Final. The last time Malta competed in a Eurovision Final was back in 2021 when the Junior Eurovision 2015 winner Destiny represented her country, and sung her way to the 7th place in Rotterdam with “Je me casse”.
