New Event Manager for ORF

The former ORF Head of Communications returns to plan and manage works for the Eurovision Song Contest.

The ESC Organising Committee of the Austrian national broadcaster ORF has finally been selected. The former ORF Head of Communications, Pius Strobl, has been chosen to be the Event Manager for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015, whilst the Head of the directorial team will be Kurt Pongratz. Edgar Böhm was elected to lead the Song Contest, whereas Stefan Zechner was selected to take responsibility for managing the TV show.

This was announced today by the Director General of the ORF Foundation Board, Alexander Wrabetz, in an interview with APA (Austria Press Agency). “Strobl has a wide experience in the field of Event Management. He invented ‘public viewing’ in football, organised several large scale events in Vienna and also managed some major venues during his previous time at ORF”, said Wrabetz.
