Tonight, in Iceland, 6 acts (Greta Salome, Alda, Elisabet Ormslev, Þórdís Birna Borgarsdóttir & Guðmundur Snorri Sigurðarson, Karlotta Sigurðardóttir and Erna Hrönn Ólafsdóttir & Hjörtur Traustason) competed in the Final of Songvakeppnin 2016 with the hope of winning the golden to represent their country in Stockholm, at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

At first, the 6 acts performed their song once. Then, two acts (Greta Salome and Alda) advanced to the super-final. These two acts were chosen by the televoters (50%) and an expert jury (50%). They performed their song a second time. This time, the winner was chosen only by the televoters. At the end of the show, Greta triumphed and will represent Iceland in Stockholm with her ”Hear them calling”.

Greta Salome represented Iceland in Baku, at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, with Jonsi and the song ”Never Forget”. They finished 20th with a total of 46 points.
