Happy 100th birthday, Emil Ramsauer!

The man who was the oldest ever participant at the Eurovision Song Contest at the time he was participating, has turned 100 today! It’s Emil Ramsauer, a member of Takasa, the band which represented Switzerland at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest with “You And Me”.

Emil Ramsauer was born on the 28th of February 1918, and today he turns 100! He was 95 years old when he was rocking the Eurovision stage back in 2013 together with the other members of the Salvation Army for Switzerland. He was playing the double-bass for his band, who unfortunately failed to qualify for the Grand Final in Malmo.

A big celebration in his hometown is scheduled for today due to his birthday, and this celebration is not entirely inappropriate in view of the CV: he was a member of the Salvation Army for more than 80 years, and in all this time he did not drink a drop of alcohol – and he says: “Not the healthy lifestyle, but God alone decides how long life should last.”

Let’s remind ourselves of their entry from 2013:

The whole ESCBubble Team would like to wish a very happy birthday to Emil!
