The line-up for the annual Romanian Golden Stag Music Festival has been announced and a staggering 7 of the 12 global participants are past Eurovision stars or National Final artists!
Hosted in Braşov, Romania, the Golden Stag Festival is an annual music competition which invites a number of local stars and international performers to participate in a three day music festival, with this years 19th edition taking place between August 22nd and August 24th.
Moldova’s Anna Odobescu, who competed at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest with ‘Stay‘, will be participating at the Golden Stag Festival, along with Georgia’s 2017 entrant Tamara Gachechiladze and one half of Latvia’s 2013 duo PeR, Ralfs Eilands. None of the three Eurovision stars were able to qualify for the grand final in their respective years, however they now have the opportunity to perform for the Golden Stag Festival awards and prize money (€55,000).
These three will be joined by four national final stars, Australia’s Alfie Arcuri and Lithuania’s Monika Marija were both finalists in their countries 2019 national selections but were not able to win this time around. Austria’s Sara de Blue, who competed in San Marino’s 1in360 national selection show and Armenia’s 2017 Depi Evratesil contestant Syuzanna Melqonyan complete the Eurovision related line-up.
Last years festival was won by Albanian national finalist Inis Neziri, with Cyprus’s ‘Fuego‘ performer Eleni Foureira also competing. All twelve artists, from ten countries, must perform both one of their own songs and then a classic Romanian hit song.
