NRK prepares for the 60th anniversary of Melodi Grand Prix!

For the last five years, Melodi Grand Prix has been a one night show with 10 finalists. In 2020 however, NRK are getting ready to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Melodi Grand Prix with no less than 5 semi finals and a grand final on February 15th. Each semi final will have five songs. The winner of the televotes in each semi final will advance to the grand final, while a professional jury will decide who the remaining five finalist will be. This means that MGP 2020 will have 25 songs in total.

Ever since 2001, Oslo Spectrum has been the home of Melodi Grand Prix. In 2020 however, it may look like the event is moving somewhere else, as Oslo Spectrum is booked during this period of time. NRK will announce more information in September, but rumours points to Telenor Arena, which hosted the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2010. Telenor Arena has also hosted MGP Junior for the last few years.

Melodi Grand Prix 2020:
11 January – Semi final 1
18 January – Semi final 2
25 January – Semi final 3
1 February – Semi final 4
8 February – Semi final 5
15 February – Grand Final

More information about the show as well as the ticket sales, will be announced by NRK in September.
