National final to select Luxembourg’s entry for Eurovision 2024!

Moments ago, Luxembourg’s national broadcaster RTL has published the rules of entering Luxembourg’s selection of Eurovision 2024, and also confirmed that their entry for Sweden is going to be selected via a national final!

Luxembourg started their search for their entry for Eurovision 2024, and their open call for songs closes on the 1st of October 2023! Apart from the standard Eurovision rules, the following rules will also apply in this national selection:

  • the applying artists must be available and flexible between November 2023 and May 2024;
  • artists must hold Luxembourgish nationality, must have resided in Luxembourg for at least three consecutive years; or exhibit a strong cultural involvement and have proven connection to the Luxembourgish music scene;
  • artists can submit up to three of their own songs, whilst the performing artist, group and the songwriter(s) do not have to be identical for each of the submitted songs. International songwriters interested in collaborating with Luxembourgish artists are welcome to submit their songs as well;
  • artists that do not have a song can also submit their application by the 16th of July by uploading a video containing a brief introduction and a performance of a song of their choice. Should their application be successful, RTL will match them up with a suitable song for the Final.

Following receipt of the applications, a panel of experts will select the singers, whose names will be announced by RTL. The finalists will then have the honor of participating in the grand national pre-selection, which will take place on the 27th of January, at the Rockhal in Esch/Belval, which will be broadcast live by RTL.

The winner of this national preselection will have the privilege of representing the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, which will make its comeback to the Eurovision Song Contest stage in Sweden in May 2024, after a 30-year absence.

The last time Luxembourg competed in Eurovision was back in 1993, when the group Modern Times represented the country with “Donne-moi une chance” and finished in 20th place. Give this song a listen right here:
