Carina Berg and Björn Gustafsson to host Melodifestivalen 2024

Aftonbladet in Sweden is reporting that Carina Berg and Björn Gustafsson are set to host Melodifestivalen 2024, something that “very few people know about” — oh well!

Carina Berg is an experienced television presenter in Sweden who won a Kristallen award in 2015 for best female television presenter. She also hosted Swedish Idol back in 2007. She had been working with Kanal 5, but left that role in August, freeing SVT to snap her up to host Melfest.

Björn Gustafsson is a Swedish actor and stand-up comedian. He infamously appeared in an interval act during Melodifestivalen 2008 where he sang a song to Carina Berg:

“You’re Jane and I’m Tarzan, break up with him from Hassan […] I am beautiful and unique, my father is rich…”

In 2008, Carina was the partner of the show’s host that year, Kristian Luuk. Afterward, she admitted to hiding her cheeks so people could not see that she was blushing.

Björn may also be remembered by some Eurovision fans for the unique way he delivered Sweden’s televote points that same year.

SVT has yet to say anything official about the choice of hosts. Project Manager for Melodifestivalen Anders Wistbacka refused to comment on this issue when approached by Aftonbladet.

The big official reveal may indeed come on 1st December, when SVT will reveal the competing artists (many of whom have already been identified by Aftonbladet) on television.

The Melfest tour will kick off with Heat 1 on 3rd February in Malmö, and end with the Final in Stockholm 6 weeks later on 9th March.
