Etapa Națională returns for 2024

As of today, 22nd November, artists interested in applying to represent Moldova at the 68th Eurovision Song Contest can submit their entries.

Moldovan Eurovision broadcaster TRM has opened submissions to find the country’s 19th Eurovision act. Prospective artists have until 22nd December to apply and submit their project description and digital audio materials to the broadcaster via eurovision.md.

TRM will then move to the live auditions phase, starting on 13th January. The final of Etapa Națională is set to take place on 17th February with 10 artists vying to fly the Moldovan flag in Malmö.

Moldova has always punched above its weight at Eurovision. With a population of just 2.6 million and the second lowest GDP per capita in Europe (only ahead of Ukraine), Moldova has made the Grand Final on 13 occasions, only failing to qualify 5 times.

Moldova’s best result came in 2017, when SunStroke Project claimed 3rd place with Hey Mamma. In Turin in 2022, Zdob și Zdub & Advahov Brothers came 2nd in the televote in the Grand Final, but finished 7th overall with Trenulețul.

In Liverpool, Pasha Parfeni’s Soarele și luna got Moldova back to the Grand Final for the third time in a row, finishing in 18th place.
