Joost Klein will represent the Netherlands in Eurovision 2024

Earlier this morning the Dutch national broadcaster AVROTROS confirmed that out of over 600 submissions, the rapper Joost Klein has been selected to represent the Netherlands in Eurovision in 2024 in Malmö.

Joost Klein started an initiative to represent the Netherlands in Malmö earlier in the summer. He had the support of over 25k of his fans signing the petition, as well as all of the DJs of the radio station “3FM”. After being informed that he will be the one to represent his home country in Eurovision 2024, Joost stated:

Dream big, it’s not a lie. It’s really not a lie. At the end of the day, you’re going to be proud. Trust the process.
Taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest is a dream come true. I used to watch it together with my parents, glued to the screen, year after year. It’s an honor to represent the Netherlands, and I’m committed to giving my all for the best possible outcome.

Twan van de Nieuwenhuijzen, the Head of the selection committee stated:

Following a careful and multi-phase process, the selection committee ultimately opted for Joost Klein. There were a lot of entries from a wide range of genres, but in our view his had the most hit potential. In the song, you hear his familiar mix of party and nostalgia. With his enormous creativity, we think Joost can put on a great show in a totally original way, and that the Netherlands and Europe are in for a positive surprise. We’re really looking forward to working with him.

Whilst we are waiting for his Eurovision song to be released, give a listen to one of Joost’s latest singles, “Wachtmuziek”:
