UMK artists to be revealed on 10th January

A surprise from Finland came today, as broadcaster Yle provided an update on Uuden musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) 2024 on their social media!

With the popularity of UMK growing outside of Finland’s borders, Yle provided the update with an English translation – a nod to the thousands of non-Finnish speaking UMK followers.

Fans wishing to find out the artists taking part in UMK 2024 can do so on Wednesday 10th January from 19:00 to 19:30 CET by tuning in to Yle Areena or by following the YouTube broadcast.

The post also introduced the trio of hosts for UMK this February: comedian Pilvi Hämäläinen, singer Benjamin Peltonen  (7th place in UMK 2023 with Hoida mut) and TV-host Viivi Pumpanen.

Finland will build off the success of last year’s selection by hosting the Final of UMK 2024 on Saturday, 10th February in Finland’s largest arena — the Nokia Arena in Tampere — literally setting the stage for the biggest edition of UMK ever!

Käärijä won the right to represent Finland at Eurovision in Liverpool when he easily won UMK 2023 by a margin of 387 points to his closest competitor. At Eurovision, despite receiving 12 points from 18 countries in the televote, it wasn’t enough to come away with the win. Cha Cha Cha remains the second best result in Finland’s history at Eurovision.
