Pesma za Evroviziju ’24 final set for 2nd March
Things are heating up in Serbia as broadcaster RTS has published details about the country’s upcoming national selection for Eurovision 2024!
The show Pesma za Evroviziju ’24 will have two Semi Finals on 27th and 29th February, with the Final scheduled for 2nd March. The winner of PZE’24 will fly the Serbian flag in Malmö in the hopes of getting the Balkan nation to its 13th Grand Final in 16 attempts!
RTS’ Director of the Entertainment Programming, Olivera Kovačević, was beaming on the Eurovision Stories podcast, noting a record number of submissions for 2024:
… about 235 submissions. Last year there were around 185. Almost 50 more entries and authors than last year. From year to year we have more interest and I can say that everyone from amateurs to top the professionals, to young gifted people, to people with successful careers have applied.
Things are still being done behind closed doors at RTS, with the team set to listen to all the entries on Monday, 11th December. From there, Kovačević hopes to be able to announce the list of successful artists who will compete in the live shows before the New Year.
RTS has yet to decide on the number of competitors, with Kovačević mentioning on the podcast that there might be somewhere between 30 to 34 who will be chosen.
Fans planning on watching the shows live will have to wait a bit longer for details about tickets and even the location of the shows. Kovačević admitted that both the Sava Center and Belgrade Arena are being considered at the moment.
Serbia was most recently represented by Luke Black, who won PZE’23. He was successful in getting Serbia to its 12th Grand Final, where Samo mi se spava finished in 24th place with 30 points.
