From the 29th of September, everyone can enter the Swiss National Final, and try to become Sebalter’s successor and represent Switzerland in Austria. The Internet platform esc.srf.ch is open, and every day we can find new songs uploaded by singers from all over Europe. This platform will be closed for submissions on the 27th of October, when an online voting will start. The results of the online vote together with the votes of a special jury (50/50) will decide which ones will qualify to the next stage.
The Swiss platform is popular among anonymous singers as it’s a good opportunity for them to present their songs. After the first week, there are already 40 uploaded songs. Who decided to fight for Eurovision? Let’s have a look for two British acts.
Bowie Jane entered the competition with “Never Surrender”. Her debut single, “Luv Bomb”, described as “frightingly catchy” by Music-Week UK, reached number 11 on the UK Music Week Commercial Pop Club Charts, number 9 on the Euro Dance Charts and received airplay on 78 stations across the UK. Another British singer is Kitty Brucknell, known as semi-finalist of 8th season of “X Factor UK”. Her debut album, “Glamour & Damage” is set for release on 30 October 2014. She decided to present “Yearning” for this National Final.
Okejda and Urlika Bengtsson from Sweden, James Stone from Greece, Like Leto from Russia, Kaya from Malta, Niina Maria from Finland and The United from UK – these are only a few examples of foreigners who want to represent Switzerland in Eurovision 2015. In the next three weeks, the amount of submitted songs will increase and probably we will find some Eurovision related singers among the candidates. In previous years many Eurostars tried to qualify for the Swiss National Final i.e. Annet Artani or Constantinos Christoforou from Cyprus, Daria Kinzer from Croatia, Magdalena Tul from Poland, as well as stars known worldwide, like Ultra Nate from the USA, Nadine from South Africa, and others.
