RTP bring back Festival da Canção Júnior!

It has been 10 years since Portugal last participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. For their two participations, in 2006 and 2007, they used Festival da Canção Júnior as their selection method and it has been announced the festival is back!

Portuguese TV-host Jorge Gabriel explained on the show A Praça what the procedure will be like.

RTP have chosen 5 contestants for their national final and they are:

– Mariana Venâncio (10 years old)
– Filipa Ferreira (11 years old)
– Duarte Valença (10 years old)
– Margarida Lima (12 years old)
– Mariana Leite (14 years old)

During next week, on each working day of the week, one of them will be introduced in A Praça and this will be the schedule:

Monday, September 25: Filipa Ferreira
Tuesday, September 26: Mariana Venâncio
Wednesday, September 27: Mariana Leite
Thursday, September 28: Duarte Valença
Friday, September 29: Margarida Lima

The national final itself will be on the 5th of October and for this RTP has created a running order already as well:

1. Filipa Ferreira
2. Mariana Leite
3. Margarida Lima
4. Duarte Valença
5. Mariana Venâncio

The winner will be representing Portugal in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Tbilisi, Georgia!
