Friðrik Dór to Vienna after all?

María Ólafs, who won Söngvakeppnin on Saturday with her song “Unbroken”, was a guest on the popular Icelandic TV show Kastljós tonight, along with one of the composers of her song, Ásgeir Orri Ásgeirsson.

During the interview the host asked if there was any truth to what she had been hearing; that Friðrik Dór, the runner-up in Saturday’s final, would be María’s male backing vocalist in Vienna in May.

Ásgeir said that it hasn’t been decided yet, and we would have to wait and see. But he continued by saying that he would have to talk to Friðrik and see if he was up for it. The host of the show said that now that it had been said on tv, it would have to happen, and Ásgeir kind of agreed…

Ásgeir Orri, along with his partners in StopWaitGo, also wrote Friðrik’s entry, “Once Again”, which might make this a little more likely than it would otherwise be.

But as he said; he doesn’t even know the answer to this himself yet, so we will just have to wait and see!

However, it is already being discussed among Icelandic fans on facebook, and it seems they are all positive to the idea.

Listen to what María had to say, when we interviewed her before her semifinal.
