The title of Eliot’s song is ‘Wake Up’!
More news about the Belgian participation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 has come out today!
We already know 18 year old Eliot Vassamillet will be representing the country with a song written by Pierre Dumoulin, from the group Roscoe and the songwriter behind Eurovision success ‘City Lights’. It was performed by Blanche who finished high on a 4th place for Belgium in 2017.
Pierre had contacted Eliot to work with him in Spring 2018 already.
The songwriter himself states:
When I saw Eliot’s blind audition, I immediately got the feeling he has that little bit extra I’m looking for in an artist: the sensibility and the fragility that are needed to convey emotions through music
Pierre invited Eliot to his home in Liège, where Eliot told him about his background and (musical) wishes for the future. He let Eliot listen to a demo which would later go on to become the Belgian Eurovision 2019 entry, by the title of… ‘Wake Up’!
Eliot hopes, so he says in this Facebook post, that everyone will be with him and support him on his journey towards and during the contest in May in Tel Aviv:
The song is, according to Eliot himself, a call to young people to improve our world and take a stand for peace. An important positive message to spread.
This makes us wonder: what kind of song could ‘Wake Up’ be?
What kind of genre of style do you think ‘Wake Up’ will be in?
