Brunettes Shoot Blondes also say “No” to representing Ukraine in Eurovision 2019! UA:PBC starts a Facebook poll!
Even thought they haven’t been officially approached by UA:PBC yet, Brunettes Shoot Blondes received lots of messages from their fans asking them to accept the offer, and go on to represent Ukraine in Eurovision 2019. Due to this fact, the band released a statement, where they said that even if they get the offer from UA:PBC – they are going to say “No” as well.
The Ukrainian Eurovision drama continues – after Maruv (the winner of Vidbir) failed to reach an agreement with UA:PBC and refused to sign their contract, Freedom Jazz and Kazka got contacted by UA:PBC, and both bands refused the offer to represent Ukraine at this year’s Eurovision. Brunettes Shoot Blondes didn’t even wait for the official proposal, but they have released the following statement:
Friends! We’re getting lots of messages with the question whether the national broadcaster contacted Brunettes Shoot Blondes.
We want to tell you in advance: if we get an offer for participation in Eurovision 2019, we are not going to accept it.
Our band did not win the national selection, thus this trip is not ours.
Fans please understand our decision – we have many other gigs where we are looking forward to meeting you! We invite everyone to our spring concerts in Germany, Poland and Czech Republic, as well as the solo concert in Kiev.
This leaves us with only YUKO and Anna Maria as the two last placed entries in the Final of Vidbir who haven’t been contacted, nor made any statements yet – except the statement Anna Maria gave in the live show that if they have to choose between taking part in Eurovision, or choose their parents who live in Crimea – they choose their parents.
Shortly after this, UA:PBC started a poll on their official Facebook page, where people are being asked whether Ukraine should take part in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, or whether they should withdraw. You can vote here:
