Is Carola returning to Melodifestivalen in 2020?

Rumors tell that the Swedish superstar and Eurovision legend Carola Häggkvist might be taking part in the Swedish national selection for Eurovision, Melodifestivalen, in 2020. According to the sources of Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet Carola would take part in the contest with a song which she has written herself and that has a religious message. Carola is known for her strong religious belief.

Carola is one of the most popular and well-known Swedish artists, who started her career already as a teenager. She has participated Melodifestivalen many times and won the contest three times: in 1983, 1991 and 2006. Carola has done really well in Eurovision also. In 1983 she was only 16 years old when she finished third in ESC with her song Främling. In 1991 she won the contest with Fångad av en stormvind and brought Eurovision to Malmö in 1992. In 2006 she finished 5th with her song Invincible.

Melodifestivalen is known to be a really high-class national selection format, and every year the most popular artists and songwriters not only from Sweden but many other countries as well send their songs to the contest. Melodifestivalen is the most popular tv-show in Sweden and many songs that participate in the contest will become hit songs at least in Sweden and other Nordic countries.
