Three time Norwegian Eurovision entrant – in 1978 with “Mil etter mil”, 1982 with “Adieu” (in a duet with Anita Skorgan) and in 1983 with “Do Re Mi” – Jahn Teigen, died last night in Sweden at the age of 70.
Jahn Teigen had a very rich music career in Scandinavia, which lasted well over 50 years. He released over 60 albums, compilations and singles during his career (38 of which he released as a soloist). His breakthrough as a soloist came in the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix which he won with “Mil etter mil”, and then scored 0 points at the Eurovision Song Contest in Paris. Nevertheless, the song became a massive hit in Norway.
Jahn Teigen took part in the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix a total of 16 times – his last attempt being in 2005 with “My Heart Is My Home”, and finished in 4th place.
Our sincere condolences to all the friends and family of Jahn Teigen. May he rest in peace.
