Jan Johansen to replace Thorsten Flinck in Melodifestivalen!

As we reported yesterday, Thorsten Flinck has been disqualified from this year’s Melodifestivalen, due to the fact that he is being charged with assault and vandalism. Due to the fact that Thorsten was supposed to compete in the second semi final, which will take place this Saturday, SVT had to act quick, and find a replacement. And they have – the 1995 Eurovision entrant for Sweden, Jan Johansen is going to replace Thorsten Flinck this coming Saturday.

Jan Johansen will go on to perform “Miraklernas tid”, written by Thomas G:Son, in the second semi final this coming Saturday. He already represented Sweden at the 1995 Eurovision Song Contest, with the song “Se på mig” which finished in third place. He came back to Melodifestivalen three times after his Eurovision participation – in 2001, 2002 and 2003, so this will mark his fourth try to represent Sweden for the second time.

Karin Gunnarsson, the Producer of Melodifestivalen 2020 stated:

I am very grateful that Jan Johansen has accepted our proposal at such short notice. Not everyone can just simply enter the stage of Melodifestival in front of three million viewers under these circumstances. With an experienced artist like Jan, the competition is secured on Saturday.

The second semi final of Melodifestivalen 2020 will take place in Gothenburg this Saturday, and ESCBubble will of course live blog the entire event.
