Cyprus has made its choice, and the awaited announcement was made this morning: it’s Elena Tsagrinou for 2021!
26-year-old Elena is a Greek artist and TV personality from Athens who started her career back in 2013 as a member of the OverView band. A year later, she was chosen as a coach on the talent show “Just The 2 Of Us”, before joing ‘The Voice Of Greece” as the backstage host in 2016.
In 2017, still as a member of the band, she joined the Panik Records label, before opting for a solo career in 2018, relasing up to 8 singles and taking part to many TV events (especially wih MAD TV). Since last October, Elena has been the host of the “K-Pop Stars” programme on MAD.
As a “Panik” artist, she was hence chosen by Cypriot broadcaster RIK-CyBC for Eurovision 2021.
The song has already been chosen. It is entitled “El Diablo” (The devil) and is the result of a collaborative work with many international producers and composers (Jimmy “Joker” Thornfeldt, Laurell Barker, Oxa, and Thomas Stengaard)
It has also been revealed that the artistic director of the Cypriot act will be no other than Marvin Dietmann (the man behind Conchita’s performance in 2014).
We still don’t know when “El Diablo” will be premiered, but in the meantime you can discover Elena’s work with her latest release “Πάρε Με Αγκαλιά” (Gimme a hug), that she performs with her partner in life, rapper Mike.
