Sanja Doležal (Novi Fosili) cooperates with the Croatian band Hladno Pivo on their new single “Carpe Diem”!

The representative of Yugoslavia at Eurovision Song Contest 1987, singer of the band Novi Fosili, Sanja Doležal cooperated with, Hladno Pivo on their new song “Carpe Diem”. Hladno Pivo is Croatian punk rock band which started performing in 1988 and since then they have played more than 600 concerts all around ex Yugoslavia and Germany, they also won 8 Porin awards and many other prizes. This isn’t the first time Hladno Pivo is releasing songs with huge Croatian stars and also musicians who took part at Jugovizija as couple of years ago they released a song “Soundtrack za život” with the music diva, Josipa Lisac (Jugovizija 1969, 1970 & 1987), Saturday evening the Porin award ceremony took place and Josipa announced Albina as the winner of new artist award.

Sanja Doležal is Croatian singer and television host. She started her career in the group “Prva ljubav” but she rose to fame after she became the singer of “Novi fosili”, with the band she released 7 albums and 2 compilations (1984-1990). Novi Fosili represented Yugoslavia at Eurovision 1987 with “Ja sam za ples” and they ended on 4th place. Prior to that band competed 4 times in (1981, 1982, 1983 & 1986) they ended the show as runner up on 3 occasions. In 1981 with “Oko moje” they were 4 points behind the winner Sead Memić Vajta with “Lejla“, the year after they ended on shared 4th place with “Vikend tata, vikend mama“, 7 points behind the winner Aska with “Halo, halo” That is their worst place at Jugovizija. In 1983 they were 2nd again with “Volim te od 9 do 2“, having 18 points less than Danijel with “Džuli“.

Sanja performed a Yugoslavian version of the Dutch entry for Eurovision 1983, “Sing Me a Song” by Bernadette, titled “Pjevaj mi” that was caused by the popularity of the Eurovision covers compilation  Yugoslav label Jugoton released a year before. Later in 1983, Sanja joined Novi Fosili and she competed at Jugovizija 1986 and 1987 as the vocalist of the band. In 1986, Novi Fosili performed “Boby br. 1” and ended the contest on 2nd place for the third time. The following year they finally won the national selection with “Ja sam za ples” and represented Yugoslavia at Eurovision 1987, they were 4th at the contest in Brussels. The band performed at Jugovizija 1988 as the interval act. The bend performed in that lineup until 1991 when they officially split. The members of the band Rajko Dujmić and Marinko Kolnago joined by two singers continued to perform until 2001 when the group ended performing after 30 years of their career.

In 2005 the members of the band who parted their ways back in 1991 gathered back again at a concert in Zagreb and they performed together until 2012. Last August the member of Novi Fosili and composer of some of their biggest songs as well as the one behind Yugoslavian winning entry “Rock Me” by Riva, Rajko Dujmić, passed away. Novi Fosili released more than 20 albums and competed at various festivals. You can check the performance of “Ja sam za ples” below
