Olena Usenko wins the Ukrainian national final for Junior Eurovision 2021 with ‘Vazhil’

Olena Usenko has just won the Ukrainian national final for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021 and will represent the country on November 19. She will perform the song Vazhil (Leverage) at La Seine Musicale in Paris.

The Ukrainian national final has just taken place in a special format due to the high cases of Covid-19 in the country. A few days ago, UA:PBC had to take some measures to hold the national final to ensure the security of all people involved. All the performances of today’s final were recorded in the last few days under the same conditions and broadcast today during the live final.

At the show, each finalist performed an original song. Those who entered the competition without an original composition sang ‘Save the World’, composed by the 2020 Ukrainian finalist Maryna Kruta, who won a creative competition for song authors held by UA:PBC. Angelina McFarlane (RREALINA), who was going to perform ‘Angel of Light’ at the final, withdrew from the competition a few days ago due to problems with the composers of her song. You can find all 11 finalists below:

The winner was selected by a professional jury panel, made up of Alyosha (Eurovision 2010), Igor Kondratyuk, Lyuba Morozova, Igor Pasnov and Alexander Balabanov (Junior Eurovision 2020) and the public via online voting, which was opened after all the performances. Darina Krasnovetska, who represented Ukraine at Junior Eurovision 2018 and Viktor Diachenko were the hosts of the show.
