Azerbaijan narrows potential Eurovision 2023 artists to a list of 5
Azerbaijani broadcaster İctimai TV has released a shortlist of just five artists who will fly the Azeri flag in Liverpool.
In a statement released on Instagram today, the press secretary of the Azerbaijani delegation to the Eurovision, Ilaha Dadashova, announced:
“As we mentioned earlier, during this year’s selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, special attention was paid to the fact that the songwriters were Azerbaijani. In addition to this, 5 performers and their songs were selected, taking into account other parameters. Those talented musicians are Leyla Izzatova, Humay Aslanova & Amrah Musayev, Mamagama Group, Turan & Tural Bagmanovlar, and Azer Nasibov.”
The statement goes on to add that the tracks of these 5 candidates were recorded in the same studio and under the same conditions so that the difference in the quality of the songs does not affect the final decision and to ensure a fair competition.
After recording, live performances were recorded. The performances are intended to be presented to a focus group in both formats (recorded audio and live video). Currently, work is still being done on those videos.
